Palazzo Cestari Hotel - Via Dottor Nicola Cestari,60 - Montesano Sulla Marcellana Salerno - Italy
Map
Palazzo Cestari hotel is a period house located in Montesano sulla Marcellana (SA) in the heart of the Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni National Park, 9 km from the Padula — Buonabitacolo exit of the Mediterranean highway.
The hotel was born from the renovation, which took place in 2016, in respect of its historical identity and its architectural peculiarities of the ancient 16th century Palace inhabited since that time by the Cestari family, descended from the D'Ajerbo D'Aragona family, as evidenced by the coat of arms that dominates the access door.
It is equipped with two elevators that connect all floors and access for the disabled.
The complex structure of the building is testimony to the life that took place inside it.
Beyond the front door, you enter the entrance hall whose vaults preserve the remains of seventeenth-century frescoes depicting angels and you enter the inner courtyard overlooked by the arched loggia. On the left of the courtyard were the stables, a shelter for the horses; in fact, on the wall are the stone rings used to tie them and the watering holes on the ground.
The reception area is located in the rooms once used as a woodshed. On the right side of this, going beyond the staircase that leads to the spa, you can see a secret passage dug into the rock used in the past as an escape in case of danger.
From the reception you enter the hall where the seventeenth-century octagonal room has been used with the central skylight and the four windows that crown it, whose shape evokes the symbolism of the octagon in its eschatological meaning of the resurrection of eternal life and of the cosmic order.
On the ground floor, on the sides of the octagonal room, where once were the kitchens and the rooms used for domestic work, are two delightful rooms with vaulted tuff ceilings that serve as a breakfast room and a restaurant room.
The hall leads to the first floor where there is the ceremony room with panoramic terrace overlooking the Vallo di Diano and the conference room.
The property has 16 rooms (including one for the disabled) spread over three floors equipped with private bathroom with shower, individually adjustable convector, free Wi-Fi and flat screen TV, furnished with period furniture. Most of the rooms are located on the third floor where the attics were once used to store food and to house the servants. Some of these have a terrace and all overlook the Vallo di Diano offering a breathtaking view.
In the basement of the Palace, the spa has been built, in which there is an infrared sauna, the Turkish bath created in a natural cave, the relaxation area and a heated pool built in ancient tanks for collecting rainwater.

FAQ Frequently Asked Questions
- Are the prices always the same even if the date changes?Prices vary based on various factors which may be seasonal, day of the week, occupation status of the hotel, promotions, particular fairs in the city and more. The advice, to see the prices, is to enter the dates of your stay and make your own comparisons.
- Is breakfast always included? No, it depends on the rate and on the establishment whether it is organized to offer it or not. Check well before booking what is included and what is not and what type of service is offered.
- Can I make special requests?Of course, when booking you will have a field where you can write directly to the structure and make your requests. These will be evaluated by the hotel which will answer you directly. In this decision making process MeTour is not responsible.
- What types of beds will I find in the room I have booked? The type of bed is usually specified in the room card. - What is Pay in Structural and Payment Pre-Authorization?When you book, some establishments offer the possibility to pay directly at the establishment. In these cases you will simply be asked to insert your credit (or debit) card to guarantee the reservation, but without any charge. The sum will be withdrawn from your credit card only in the cases provided for by the policies and conditions relating to your reservation. In other cases, when the Partner does not adopt automatic availability and booking systems, but confirms reservations "manually", then you will be asked to insert your credit (or debit) card to guarantee the reservation, to then be charged directly at the same time the Partner confirms the booking (within 24-48 hours).
