Baunei
This town of 3000 souls, classified as the second most beautiful village in Italy with its practically all natural beauty composed of rocks, plants and spectacular coves, is the main attraction for tourists, where they will have the opportunity to practice snorkeling, walking horseback riding, canyoning and finally caving. Baunei, one of the pearls of Sardinia, is perched at 500 meters above sea level. A main hamlet is that of Santa Maria Navarrese, which allows boat trips to the enchanted beaches and the islet of Ogliastra. Particularly suggestive is the Luongo plateau, here there is a natural monument known as "su sterru", that is an abyss with a depth of 270 meters that combines vertigo and mystery. Mandatory stops are also the tasting of the famous Baunei artichoke, enjoy a drink of Sardinian myrtle and conclude with a typical dessert such as seadas.
Carloforte
To the south-east of Sardinia is Carloforte . A picturesque town, where you can walk among the ancient walls and enjoy breathtaking views, or even take a dip in a natural pool. The interior of this volcanic island will offer you reliefs or plains to cross until you reach a nice stone mushroom. The main entrance to the village is the arch of Via Solferino. From the Castello district to the Calcinata district, here you will find rocky bastions or symbolic elements such as the Croce del Gallo in which the instruments of the "passion of Christ" stand out. This is the most colorful part of Carloforte, where there are historic buildings and modern. Continuing the walk you will find yourself among palm trees, ficus and oleanders. In the middle of the waterfront stands the "statue of Carlo Emanuele III", and to close this scenario is the church of San Carlo Borromeo. An obligatory stop will be dedicated to "Cala Girin", where you will seem to have landed directly in the Caribbean (it will be a relaxing experience suitable for children).
Gavoi
The hills all around protect it, lakes, streams and woods embrace it , Gavoi is a town in the center of Sardinia. At 800 meters above sea level and in the center of an area of over three thousand hectares covered with woods of holm oaks, chestnuts, hollies, walnuts and cherry trees, you will be captivated by the intense blue of the "lake of Gusana" ideal for canoe trips. and sport fishing. In the village made up of elegant granite houses, you will enjoy splendid views, you can taste local delicacies such as the famous Sardinian pecorino fiore DOP and walking through the streets of the center you will learn more about the local culture at the "Casa Porcu Satta museum". We also recommend another suggestive stop not to be missed, namely the church of Sant 'Antioco. Suggestive is the rock of "lo pene", where, according to legend, the sacrifice of the elderly over 70 years old was consumed.
Climate, curiosity and advice
Climate: in Sardinia the climate is Mediterranean, with mild and fairly rainy winters, and hot and sunny summers, a bit muggy but tempered by the breezes.
Curiosity: Pyramid: you can see a live Pyramid by going to Sardinia, specifically we are talking about the pyramid of Monte D'Accodi, which resembles a ziqquarat, even if there is no connection with Egypt.
Advice: Sardinia is the ideal place for a road trip, it turns very well by car and also by motorbike. The land is beautiful from North to South, more than 1,800 kilometers of beaches with fine white sand, kissed by a emerald green or blue color so beautiful it seems fake.
